Exploring the Cotswolds

Following breakfast at the hotel, we depart from Bath in our private mini coach and head to one of the most special places in England – the Cotswolds! Over the next two days we will see quintessential England in lovely villages, rolling green hills, gorgeous manor homes, castles and gardens in their summer flush. We will stop at the village of Bibury, described by William Morris as the “most beautiful village in England”, followed by a tour of Morris’ summer home at Kelmscott Manor. Probably the most evocative of all houses associated with Morris, Kelmscott Manor contains a fantastic collection of possessions and works of Morris, his family and associates in the Arts and Crafts Movement. We pay homage again to William Morris at the Broadway Tower, a country retreat for Morris and other pre- Raphaelite artists with outstanding views of the surrounding countryside. We’ll also visit the Real Wood Furniture Company in Chipping Norton a hand-crafted furniture company inspired by William Morris. Along the way, we will have lunch and shopping time in the pretty town of Broadway. One afternoon we will visit stately Sudeley Castle, a Tudor masterpiece and former home of Queen Katherine Parr. The grounds contain carefully designed gardens and a chapel containing the Queen’s tomb. There will be time for tea at the Castle’s quaint café.
