Exploring Space and Shape in Quilt Design
November 14th – 17th, 2019 • $965.00
Join Jacquie Gering in Kansas City for a weekend of exploring space in quilt design.
Space is a powerful tool and what we choose to do with it in our quilts can make a significant difference in the quality of our compositions. With Jacquie’s guidance students will explore figure/ground relationships and learn to use shape to create intriguing interplay between positive and negative space in abstract quilt designs.
Jacquie will introduce the concept of Notan through design exercises and students will put those concepts to work in their design process as they create their own blocks and quilt designs.
Jacquie and the group will also explore Kansas City’s art scene together and observe these principles in action. Participants will leave with a broader understanding of design and the knowledge, skills and confidence to create their own quilts. It’s going to be a fun, artistic and productive weekend!
